YOMASTE BHUTAN: Nov 1-5, 2017, Price INR 39,990 per person (early bird discount)
Day 1: Nov 1 Welcome to Bhutan
Welcome to Bhutan! You will be greeted by a Byond representative as soon as you arrive at Paro Airport (4.30 PM).
Then, sit back and enjoy the view of silver rivers, green terraced farmland, villages unchanged by time and 18,000 ft tall mountain peaks as you’re chauffeured to Thimphu (1–1.5 hours). With a humble population of 40,000, Thimphu is a city without traffic lights, relying instead on the elegant gestures of smart traffic policemen in navy blue uniforms.
In the evening: meet, greet and mingle with your fellow yogis at an introductory session.
Afterwards, a welcome dinner with a live masked dance performance awaits. Sit back, eat your fill and watch as dancers leap into the air and twirl across the floor, playing the roles of deities, heroes, demons and animals, their mesmerizing dance telling the stories of ancient folk-dramas and Buddhist legends.
Then, head to bed for a good night’s rest.
Day 2 – Nov 2 Yoga, Detox and Sunset Meditation at Buddha Point
This morning, we will lead you in sessions of practicing kriyas that will help to detoxify and purify specific areas of your body including the eyes, nostrils, intestines, stomach, and the colon.
You’re free for the rest of the day to explore, eat, shop and relax on your own. Recommended: if you’re going shopping, why not pick up a bottle of K5 Himalayan Whisky, blended from the finest malt whiskies and locally-produced grain spirits? It’s smooth, smoky with a touch of sweetness – and it’s the perfect present to give a friend, but to be honest, you’ll probably want to keep this for yourself.
In the evening: a sunset meditation and yoga session at ‘Buddha Point’, one of the largest statues of Buddha in the world. High up in the pine-forest hills, overlooking Thimphu, the Buddha sits gracefully upon a throne which houses a large meditation hall; inside 125,000 smaller statues fill the chapels, where dozens of orange-robed monks sit in prayer; it’s tranquil, beautiful, and peaceful – an ideal place for a bit of introspection.
Day 3 – Nov 3 Cheri Monastery Trek, riverside Picnic, Meditation and Dochula Pass
Kick-start the day with a yoga session to help you feel relaxed, refreshed and recharged for the day.
After breakfast, pull on your sneakers and get ready to conquer the great outdoors! We’re going on a hike to the Cheri monastery (2.5 hours). It’s a gorgeous trek with the trail leading us over the Wang Chu river bridge, up into the forests of pine and fir, and rocky cliffs where you might be able to spot deer and goral (wild goats).
Then: a yoga session by the riverside, followed by a picnic lunch.
Later, we’ll drive to up to the 10,130 ft Dochula Pass. We’ll stop here briefly so you can take in the view – steep mountains dense with rhododendron forests and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind. On a clear day, there is a 360 degree view of the highest peaks in Bhutan looming in the background.
We will return to the hotel for dinner. Afterwards, you’re free to head out to explore the nightlife in Thimpu. Recommended: If you’re in the mood for some music, head to Om Bar where you can attempt to karaoke to Bhutanese songs (and fail miserably).
Day 4 – Nov 4 Tiger’s Nest Monastery & Paro Fortress
It’s an early start this morning. We’ll set off around at 6 AM with a packed breakfast, and hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (5-6 hours).
It seems to defy gravity from its precarious position, which according to legend, was built on the spot Guru Rinpoche, Bhutan’s most revered saint, meditated – after arriving here on the back of a flying. With waterfalls, chapels lit with incense, backed by mountains, it’s truly majestic.
Later: we’ll visit the Paro fortress, considered one of the finest examples of Bhutanese architecture, which overlooks the valley of the Paro Chhu river.
In the evening: we’ll celebrate our time in Bhutan at a gala farewell dinner.
Day 5 – Nov 5 Farewell!
It’s the last day of your trip to Bhutan and time to drive to the airport for your flight home. Our representative will help you with exit formalities and then bid you farewell with a ‘Tashi Delek’ (goodbye and good luck).

You will be staying at the Hotel Ossel, situated within the heart of the Thimphu valley, and features unbeatable views of the Tashicho Dzong as well as the seated Buddha.
