> Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati receives Padma Bhushan award
Swami Niranjan began living with his Guru Satyananda Sarawati from the age of 4, going on to be initiated into Dashnami sannyas (a monastic order) at the age of 11. Interestingly his Spiritual training was started in Yoga Nidra, one of the most beloved practices for Yogis around the world today! Subsequently, he went to to establish Satyananda Ashrams across the Americas, Europe & Australia. In 1983 he returned to India to manage the Yoga Research Foundation, Sivananda Math and Bihar School of Yoga at his guru’s behest. In 1994, he founded the first university of yoga, Bihar Yoga Bharati and in 1995, he was declared as the spiritual preceptor and a successor of Swami Satyananda Saraswati. In 2000, he established the Yoga Publications Trust in Munger in Bihar. He has also written many classic books on the Upanishads, tantra and yoga.
