As promised earlier, this is a follow up article regarding three doshas which constitute human body. It’s a wonder when you come across different individuals, with different body structure, habits and characteristics. All these things make a person unique.
Thereby, Ayurveda explains these unique traits with three doshas- vatta, pitta and kapha.
Doshas are defined as energetic principles that govern physiological and psychological functions of the body. For good health all the three doshas should to be balanced. The doshas derive from the five elements and their related properties.
Thus, the balance keeps changing, the health, energy level and general mood gets affected. Every individual has some of each, most people tend to have an abundance of one or two of the doshas.
1. Vata Dosha — Energy that controls bodily functions associated with motion, including blood circulation, breathing, blinking, and your heartbeat.
2. Pitta Dosha — Energy that controls the body’s metabolic systems, including digestion, absorption, nutrition, and your body’s temperature.
3. Kapha Dosha — Energy that controls growth in the body. It supplies water to all body parts, moisturizes the skin, and maintains the immune system.
Each person has all three Doshas, but usually one or two dominate. Various Dosha proportions determine one’s physiological and personality traits, as well as general likes and dislikes.
