Die everyday on Purpose

Please don’t take the title literally. Let me explain what I mean.

Let’s start with a story

A lady wanted to learn meditation. She asked  a meditation guru, “Which course do I enroll in. Here are a few pamphlets and course details.” The guru looked through. And replied, “All of them offer effective tools, you can choose any.” But, the lady insisted she chooses the best program. Then the guru  replied, ” Can I suggest something. For the next 6 months, you have to stop atleast 4 times a day when you are very busy, very happy, very sad or overwhelmed with yourself. And take 11 deep breath with closed eyes.” The friend laughed, “This is so easy!! This is not meditation.” The meditation guru replied, “Meditation is EASY! And ceasing to be, when your emotions or thoughts are on a high. It is exhilirating. You get a new perspective on yourself and the world. It is gobsmacking!! It will give you similar benefits to meditation. Try it and your life will never be the same again!!”


Basically, the story tells us the importance of staying centered. Like Shakespeare said, “Life is a stage and we all are actors.” Thus, don’t get pulled into the drama of life. Just be aware of it.  Don’t get pulled into the vicious circle. Easier said than done. But, atleast, make some effort!

In meditation, there is no past or present. Just now. Similarly, when we die, everything ceases to be. Similarly, when you take those 11 breaths. Die on purpose, forget the past, future, you, everything. And be your breath!!

You transform so naturally and beautifully, that you will be surprised!! So time for me to take 11 deep breaths now….
